Welcome to my deviant page

Thu May 29, 2008, 11:27 PM
Hi! My name is Mikko Anttonen (A.K.A. "Freaky Mike") and I work as a traditional blacksmith and jewelry artist in one small village in the eastern part of Finland. I'm pretty mad on science fiction- & fantasy art/literature, medieval times and metal music as well.. I have always liked drawing and making "handicrafts" of similar design with my pictures. (I also make objects from wood, stone and clay etc.)

Link to my personal web gallery: [link] (Text is mainly in Finnish..)

I drew a lot, when I was a kid.. In my teenage years that went to the backround, but a seven years ago I got extremely interested it again, and now I draw and paint a lot of scifi- and fantasy works etc. (Mainly in Wacom tablet and Photoshop.)
I have made all kind of metalworks for hobby over ten years and I started finally my own business in 2007. My workshop is situated in one over hundred years old barn house in our farmyard and it's called "Taidetakomo Astalo" so I decide to use it also my nick in here. (Astalo is really a finnish name for temporary striking weapon.)

Many people have asked, that do i sell my metal works in online or make some commissions in there, but i have to say no for all of them.
I have already so much work in our farm/forests and my little company, that i don't have any meaningful reasons to expand my "business" to outside Finland.. I'm here only for that reason, because it's always very interesting to hear some feedback and comments from around the world, and not only from my local circles and customers etc.

Sorry about typos.. My english skills are quite minor. :)

You are very welcome. I have always been huge fan of all kind of pole weapons and there is not too many traditional poleaxes in DeviantART (Your great looking armor was also very nice bonus in that picture..)

Thanks for adding me to your watch-list. :)

Next time when i'm going to make more historical style weapons is probably next fall when this busy summer season is of. (Maybe few different maces, warhammers or something like that..)
