Personal Quote: When it`s too loud, you`re too old
Hi!  My name is Mikko Anttonen (A.K.A. "Freaky Mike") and I work as a traditional blacksmith and jewelry artist in one small village in the eastern part of Finland. I'm pretty mad on science fiction- & fantasy art/literature, historical times and metal music as well.. I have always liked drawing and making objects from metal, wood and other natural materials.

Link to my personal web gallery: - (Text is mainly in Finnish..)

I drew a lot, when I was a kid.. In my teenage years that went to the backround, but after 2002 I got extremely interested it again, and draw and paint a lot of scifi- and fantasy themed works etc. (Mainly in Wacom tablet and Photoshop.)
I have made all kind of metalworks for hobby over ten years and I started finally my own business in 2007. My workshop is situated in one over hundred years old  barn house in our farmyard  and it's called "Taidetakomo Astalo" so I decide to use it also my nick in here. (Astalo is really a finnish name for temporary striking weapon.)

Many people have asked, that do i sell my metal works in online or make some commissions in there, but i have to say no for all of them.
I have already so much work to do in our farm/forests and my little company, that i don't have any meaningful reasons to expand my "business" to outside Finland.. I started to post my works here, because it's quite interesting to hear some feedback and comments also from around the world, and not only from my local circles and customers.

Sorry about typos.. English is not my native language. :)

Your work is amazing!! you're very talented. Such a shame you won't sell outside Finland.

Thanks for the compliments. My farm and forests take so much time in nowadays, that this small "side business" is only going to decrease a little bit more in every year.
Also the demand for unique metal works is always rising in this country, so it's not very good idea to expand abroad if I already have to refuse over half of the commission inquiries even in my local area..

Monttu auki jäin katselemaan käsityötaitojesi hedelmiä. Teet kauniita esineitä!

Mukava kuulla.

You are very welcome. That contrast between brass and steel was very nice.
I'm also going to use a lot of brass or bronze details if I ever try to make own viking helmet. :)
